David Fincher, the director of Fight Club and The Social Network, was handed the reigns to what might be the biggest movie franchise since Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings. Fincher has taken on the task of bringing Steig Larsson’s first book from his millenium triology, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, to the big screen. To help him do so, Rooney Mara was cast as the lead character, Lisabeth Salander.
A lot of people were wondering who Rooney Mara was and why Fincher selected her for the role of Salander, but after W Magazine’s new spread I don’t think there should be any more questions. To get “into character”, Mara had her eye brows bleached, her hair cut short, her lip, brow, nose and nipple pierced — all in one day.
