It was a crazy first weekend for the NCAA Tournament and therefore it was a crazy first weekend for our Cougar Madness Tournament. There were a lot of upsets in the tourney that will leave a sour taste in some of our cougars who had hoped to have a better showing.
In the South bracket, it is no surprise that Kate Beckinsale has breezed through to the Sexy 16. However, I’m sure you can agree that her opponent Salma Hayek is no slouch and should put up a good fight. Perhaps the surprise of the entire tourney would be Cameron Diaz’s magical run. Thanks to the Dayton Flyers, Diaz will face off with the underrated Rose McGowan who made her way to the Sexy 16 because of the awesome play of the Stanford Cardinal.
The East bracket has 2013 Cougar Champion Julie Bowen squaring off with the often overlooked Thandi Newton. After a hard fought game between North Carolina and Iowa State, we have Halle Berry moving on to take on Shania Twain who sent fan favorite Sofia Vergara packing after UConn took down Villanova.
Moving over to the West bracket, our third 1 seed Heidi Klum had a pretty smooth couple rounds and will face Kelly Ripa. I don’t think anyone is surprised by that matchup. Gabrielle Union took down DiNunz’s favorite Giada De Laurentiis after Creighton couldn’t answer Baylor. Union will meet up with rookie 2 seed Tiffani Thiessen in the Sexy 16.
The Midwest bracket is where we saw our first 1 seed bow out of the tourney. Thanks to Kentucky upsetting Wichita State, Tyra Banks moved into the Sexy 16 over Jenny McCarthy. She will be taking on Italian princess/sleeper Monica Bellucci. This years Cinderella has to be Ali Landry. She was a late addition to the tournament but has been nothing but magical since Tennessee took care of UMass and Mercer. She will take on Jennifer Aniston, who is in her 6th straight Sexy 16 but has yet to win a title. Can this finally be Aniston’s year?
