Next Friday marks a day for television history. ESPN 3D will be making its debut on Comcast and DirecTV. At 9:30 am on Friday, June 11 2010 ESPN 3D will broadcast the first game of the FIFA World Cup between South Africa and Mexico at Soccer City in Johannesburg. Twenty-five of the 64 matches of the World Cup will be broadcast on the new ESPN 3D. The United States and Brazil are among the teams that will have their matches broadcast in 3D as well as the final match on July 11th. I don’t know how I feel about 3D television. Sure it is a cool idea but how many of us want to put on glasses to watch a sporting event? What if you already wear glasses? It just seems like a bit much for my taste. Right now, I am more than happy with my “good old” HDTV. But, as I like to say often, don’t knock it ‘til you rock it. Time will tell I guess.
