Queen's Freddie Mercury set to 'appear' on stage 20 years after his death

Brian May, the guitarist for famed rock band Queen, has said that original frontman Freddie Mercury will be making an appearance at the 10 year anniversary show of the musical We Will Rock You.

One problem…Freddie passed away in 1991.

Working closely with the production team, they want to use a sort of optical illusion, not a hologram, to bring Freddie back to the masses.  It will be similar to what we saw at Coachella when Dre and Snoop brought Tupac back to life.  Even though Tupac came back first, that hasn’t deterred May in his efforts.

“It’s a little unfortunate they did that thing with Tupac as we’ve been trying to make Freddie appear on the stage for quite a while.

“[That technique] is something we’ve looked at ourselves but I think probably for a show that runs eight shows a week it’s not really quite practical.”

The special performance is set to take place on May 14th at the West End Stage in London.
