There really hasn’t been a BIG news story today, but there have been enough little ones to make it interesting. There are the free agent reports we have grown accustomed to having jammed down our throats. We also can enjoy some World Cup reports and even some NFL news. Instead of picking just one thing to write about, I figured I would give you a mash up of all of them. This way we can be your one stop for all the top stories of the day.
After a tweet from Chris Paul, everyone knew that the King had finally joined Twitter. “Couldn’t convince him to tell me which team he’s goin to but convinced him to join twitter lol…my brother from another mother @KINGJAMES”. LeBron had amassed over 90,000 followers by 4 pm eastern time and as of this post he was over 120,000 and growing by the second. The best part about the amount of his followers is that he has only tweeted once, and that was after he had 100,000 followers. “Hello World, the Real King James is in the Building “Finally”. My Brother @oneandonlycp3 gas’d me up to jump on board so I’m here. Haaaa” Obviously nothing too awesome but hopefully LeBron will open up to his fan base and respond or retweet some of his followers in the future. Right now I would like him to just focus on staying in Cleveland.
Sippin’ on Some Sizzzurrrp
Jamarcus Russell was said to be close to signing a contact with another NFL team. That notion can be tossed out the window now that the report of him being arrested at his home in Alabama on Monday and being charged with possession of a controlled substance—codeine-laced cough syrup. The charges will probably be a felony but since it is his first, he will more than likely get probation. It has become quit apparent that Russell is mad that Ryan Leaf is a bigger bust than him and he is doing all he can to sway everyone’s opinion.
Larissa Riquelme Will not Disappoint
The lingerie model from Paraguay who stated that she would run through the streets of the capital naked if her country won the World Cup is not going to let us down, even though her team did. She said she would go through with running in the buff as “a present to all of the players, and for all the people in Paraguay to enjoy, because they tried as hard as possible and gave it their all on the field.” God. Bless. This. Woman.
Everyone needs to cheer for Netherlands
Netherlands is my new favorite in the World Cup simply because Bobbi Eden is offering up something special if they win the World Cup. Before I go any farther, let me tell you that Bobbi Eden is an adult film star. Bobbi let everyone of her followers know that “If #ned wins the #worldcup I will give a BJ to all my followers, together with @vickyvette @misshybrid @gabbyquinteros 4952 and counting”. So all of you may want to start following Ms. Eden @BobbiEden so you can collect on your oral. The Netherlands team must have gotten wind of this because they decimated Uruguay today, 3-1.
LeBron James 90% on Cleveland?
According to our source who is close to James’ camp, the King is about 85%-90% on staying put in Cleveland. If that is to happen, then the Cavaliers would have a sign and trade in place with Toronto to get Chris Bosh. This would give Bosh his max money but would probably cost the Cavaliers Anderson Varejao, Delonte West and Mo Williams. It would take some work on LeBron’s part because Bosh isn’t very interested in Cleveland. Also it was reported that LeBron gave the thumbs up on Byron Scott over Brian Shaw for the head coaching job. Also, he never gave the approval of Tom Izzo, which is why he remained at Michigan State. Obviously only time will tell, but no one is expecting any word from James until later on this week.
Amar’e Gets paid
Amar’e Stoudamire has agreed to a 5 year, $100 million deal with the New York Knickerbockers. This is huge for a team that was limping through games last year, just getting destroyed. With Stoudamire in check, the Knicks will probably still try and get after LeBron even though it has been widely reported that he is disinterested in the Knicks.
